Vic members support portable long service leave
Five MEAA members have joined a delegation of about 60 workers to the Victorian Parliament organised by Victorian Trades Hall Council as part of the campaigns to support portable long service leave and action on insecure work and labour hire.
MEAA would like to thank Jeremy Stanford, Mark Edwards, Sally Yuritta, David Haidon and Jacinta Emmanuel for standing up for their fellow workers in the entertainment and events industries.
Sally, David and Jacinta, who work at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre and Melbourne & Olympic Parks Trust, talked about about insecure work at government agencies, the impact of reliance on labour hire and outsourcing of work on their jobs, and called on the state government to support secure work at its own workplaces.
The delegation follows Victorian Government Inquiries into both issues over the past 12 months. MEAA made submissions and appeared at both inquiries.
