MEAA members unite to address gender inequality
Victoria is closer to having its first ever gender equality strategy thanks to the valuable input of many MEAA members at last week’s gender equality forum, delivered in partnership with the Victorian Government.
Corinne Grant did a wonderful job facilitating the forum and stressed the importance of our union in delivering change. Panellists Nadine Garner (performer), Patricia Cornelius (playwright) and Laurel Irving (journalist) commented on the realities of being a woman in our industries, and suggested ways we can positively represent women and contribute to public discourse.
The participants broke into round table discussions and worked through challenges and solutions to inequality in our workplaces.
MEAA looks forward to providing further input to the gender equality strategy which we hope will create positive change in our industries.
