Members support jailed Spanish puppeteers
Last week, MEAA crew and Equity members attended a solidarity action in support of two puppeteers Raúl García Pérez and Alfonso Lázaro, who were arrested in Spain after performing their satirical show and jailed for five days for allegedly ‘glorifying terrorism’.
The performers have now had to turn over their passports and must report to police every 15-30 days to ‘sign in’.
Members at the action last Tuesday, called for the Spanish government to support freedom of speech for all performers and for all charges to be dropped.
Thank you to all who attended. For more information head to to the Libertad Titititeros website.
