The mission of the Equity Foundation is to assist, educate and inspire performers.
The Equity Foundation was established in 2002 to oversee Equity’s publications, awards and extensive professional program.
In the last decade the services offered by the Equity Foundation have grown to include more than 100 workshops and masterclasses annually hosted by leading writers, directors, filmmakers, acting coaches, casting directors, dancers, voice over experts and other leaders in their field.
The nation’s leading peer-judged actor awards are hosted and administered by the Equity Foundation. The Equity Ensemble Awards and the Equity Lifetime Achievement Award are uniquely nominated and selected by Australian performers and are presented at prestigious industry events annually.
Over the last two years the Foundation has offered its first international acting scholarship in collaboration with the prestigious Atlantic Acting School in New York and began a world first research project studying the health and well-being issues associated with life as a performer. This ongoing project is in collaboration with the University of Sydney.
The substantive services of the Equity Foundation are provided at no cost to members of the Equity section of MEAA.
