Alison Currie holds a Research Masters in Choreography and Performance from University of Roehampton, UK and a Bachelor of Arts in Dance Performance from Adelaide College of the Arts. For the past 10 years the primary focus of Currie’s practice has been the connection between inanimate forms and performers. Her works engage audiences, performers and objects or sculptural forms in various ways in theatres, galleries, and site-specific live performance and video. Alison’s first major work ‘42a’ was the inaugural recipient of Arts SA triennial project grant in 2007, premiered in Adelaide in 2008 and toured to three states of Australia in 2010. In 2018 Currie premiered three new works ‘Creatures’ with The Human Arts Movement at the Samstag Museum as part of Adelaide Dance Festival, ‘Close Company’ at Goodman Arts Centre in Singapore and OzAsia Festival and ‘Concrete Impermanence’ at the Adelaide Festival Centre. ‘Concrete Impermanence’ went on the be performed at The Substation in 2018 and Dancehouse in 2019 for Dance Massive. In 2020 she will premier Delimit co-direceted with David Cross and commissioned by the Keir Choreographic Award and 'Of All Things' in collaboration with Enoki and commissioned by ADT. Alison’s independent work is produced by Insite Arts.
