A blokey culture that rewards ‘mates over merit’, tolerates sexual harassment and abuse, pays lip service to work-family balance, and perpetuates the gender pay gap has been exposed by a landmark survey of women in the Australian media.
The data in this report was collected via a national online survey of about 1000 women in media at the end of 2015.
The survey was developed by Women in Media, a national mentoring and networking initiative run by women from across the media spectrum, backed by the Media, Entertainment and Arts Alliance.
Respondents to the survey believe discrimination remains rife in the industry.
