Beware of extra work on Pirates feature film

Equity has been made aware of a number of advertisements promising extra work on the Pirates of the Caribbean movie in exchange for a fee.

These fees are being charged for things such as “a photo portfolio”.

Equity strongly advises performers not to pay any money to such “recruitment agencies”. A legitimate casting director or agent would never demand a fee upfront for finding you work.

In fact it is illegal for them to do so. Agents in Queensland and NSW are regulated by a number of Commonwealth and State laws and must abide by these.
