Sport has the ability to capture Australians’ imagination more than any other round. The on-field action can make our week or break our hearts, and off-field the sporting world holds a mirror up to the whole of society.
A career in sport journalism requires passion and hard work – and for a long time – an X chromosome. Now Women in Media NSW is thrilled to present a panel of sports journalists at the top of their games:
FEW VOICES cut to the heart of the issue (or break more stories) than News Corp columnist Rebecca Wilson.
Caro Meldrum-Hanna was nominated for the Logie Award for Most Outstanding Current Affairs Report for her exclusive series of reports on the sports supplements saga. In 2011 she won the Walkey award for Sports Journalism and this year she took home the Peter Frilingo award for outstanding sports reporting at The Kennedys.
GRANDSTAND LEGEND Debbie Spillane has spent thousands of hours live on air bringing sport news and analysis to a national audience at the ABC.
It’s hard to put a value on getting these women in the same room at the same time for WiM.
Your ticket price includes refreshments and canapes.
MEAA members receive discounted ticket prices. Non-members welcome.
That Sporting Life..is presented by Women in Media NSW with the support of The Walkley Foundation, Media Super and venue provison by APRA|AMCOS.
